a Clymate IQ

Ok, so this is a little strange to me. I have heard people taking NY Strip steaks and par cooking them in holding equipment. So I gave it a try to see what would happen. I set up our holding cabinet (a Clymate IQ) to 135F with 90% relative humidity hong kong hotel promotion. Placed some steaks in it and probed them to watch the temps. In about 30min the steaks were holding tight at 130F. I let them stay like this for 2 hours. When I took them out they looked like some alien or something you would find at the bottom of an ocean… Grey masses of meat best water bottle. Holiday Gingerbread Blondies

Makes 15-20 bars. Vegan, gluten free

Ingredients:

1 can chickpeas or white beans
1/4 cup nut butter (you can get away with 3 T nut butter plus applesauce or milk)
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 T molasses airtight storage containers
1 T ground flax
3 T quick oats (or more flax)
2 t vanilla extract
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t ginger hong kong hotel reservation
1/4 t nutmeg
1/4 t cloves

Directions: combine all ingredients in a food processor (I’m pretty sure I broke my blender making these, so I don’t recomend using that) until smooth. Adjust batter to taste–you may want to add a bit more sweetener. Pour/spoon batter into a greased 8X8 pan and bake at 350 for ~35 minutes (you want it to be slightly underdone so that the middle stays a little soft wisdom dairy!)

One of the coolest parts of my internship in Spain is getting to work with a natural therapist, Yolanda, who uses massages, acupuncture, diet counseling, psychotherapy, and many other tactics to help her clients. Vegan Mint Milkshake

Continuing with my gratitude theme this week, my mom and I went to Cafe Gratitude in Berkeley for lunch. Their menu is 100% vegan and organic, almost completely gluten free, and even has a wide selection of raw food dishes–a healthy (and rather pricey) foodie haven. It’s a funky little restaurant, with brick walls and bright posters that have inspiring quotes written on them. I was a little weirded out by their menu; every dish is titled “I am ___”, as in I am nourished, or I am extraordinary. And if you don’t know vegan foodie lingo, I imagine the menu would be even more intimidating (how many restaurants serve live sandwiches and kelp noodles?) my first week in Spain

Wow, I can’t believe I’m already done with my first week in Spain! It’s been incredible, and super busy. I’ve been going to Spanish class from 9 – 1 every morning at a school for international students. My class had two girls from Korea, three from Holland, and one from Switzerland, plus me! (There were boys at the school too, but classes were split up by level and we just happened to have all girls loan calculator). In the afternoons, I worked with various people at the Hospital Infanta Luisa–I met the kitchen staff, the nutritionist, and a few of the doctors. No one there speaks English at all, but they are all so sweet and welcoming! I got to sit in on some patient consultations and look at all the diet plans for the patients in the hospital. Almond Thumbprint Cookies

It appears as though everyone I know is getting either married or having babies. These super exciting times call for more celebratory times than normal. And celebratory times in my book are always time to whip up something sweet for the honorary guest reenex. This little bit of goodness was made in honor of a baby shower thrown for my co-worker. We went with a woodland creature theme, and although I don’t have picture proof of how cute it was, just take my word for it reenex. C-U-T-E. These cookies were extremely easy to make with the one exception that the dough needs to be refrigerated for a few hours. Grapefruit Yogurt Cake

I have been looking for an excuse to make some fruit cake. Not the ew-I-dont-want-this-so-I’ll-pass-it-off-to-somebody-else fruit cake. A yummy, light and airy loaf bread of sorts. I am well seasoned when it comes to making banana, zucchini, strawberry, ect. breads (which I’ve recently been craving so be on the look out for one of those) – but I wanted to try a fruit that I haven’t used for baking tea pot infuser.
