Vegan Mint Milkshake
Continuing with my gratitude theme this week, my mom and I went to Cafe Gratitude in Berkeley for lunch. Their menu is 100% vegan and organic, almost completely gluten free, and even has a wide selection of raw food dishes–a healthy (and rather pricey) foodie haven. It’s a funky little restaurant, with brick walls and bright posters that have inspiring quotes written on them. I was a little weirded out by their menu; every dish is titled “I am ___”, as in I am nourished, or I am extraordinary. And if you don’t know vegan foodie lingo, I imagine the menu would be even more intimidating (how many restaurants serve live sandwiches and kelp noodles?) But when our food arrived, my skepticism was squashed. It was absolutely amazing travel newsletter!
We split the ‘I am Hearty’ raw deep dish pizza, and although it really did not look or taste like pizza, it was so good! The tomatoes and the crust…I don’t know how they did it, but I am impressed. We ate every bite CPC.
The real highlight of the meal, however, was the drinks. My mom got the ‘I am Luscious’ hazelnut and vanilla smoothie, and I got the ‘I am Cool’ mint chocolate chip milkshake. They were divine. Seriously, if you go there, be sure to check out the drink menu. I want to try everything on it! Too bad they’re rather expensive baby product.
After lunch, I met with a woman named Djenne Ba, who did an astrology chart consultation for me! (No, really). To make a long story short: my mom is helping Djenne Ba with some computer skills stuff, and in exchange, sister Djenne Ba offered to do a session with me. I was pretty hesitant at first; when I was going through yoga teacher training we did an astrology workshop and I thought it was ridiculous. But Djenne Ba really knew her stuff, and I learned a lot of interesting things about myself. She did several different charts for me, including a natal chart and a relationship analysis.
The purpose of her work is to use astrology as a tool for self-empowerment, so that you can better understand yourself and which direction to take. I have been sort of at a crossroads with what i want to do in life, so even if I didn’t agree with everything she said, much of it really resonated with me, and it was cool to hear her input. If your curious, here are a few things she told me: I am meant to do something creative as a career, I need to communicate through writing (and I hadn’t told her about the blog!), and that in a past life, and my ultimate fulfillment will come from service to other people. Of course, she told me way, way more than that, but I’ll spare you the details.
