Thank you!

I want to say, that this subject, for me, was very interesting. I found out a lot of stylistic devices, which I did not know. Our work on classes was wery interesting too, we discussed a lot of examples and it helped me to remember stylistic devices. Examples, that you gave us, were unusual and it was real pleasure to study this course.

Thank you, Yuliya Olegovna, for this course. Stylistics is a very interesting course.

Usually we use alliteration in words, which stay close to each other.

Capitalization - some common nouns written with capital letters.

It makes for several reasons: In adress or personification, which gives some importance and solemnity to the text; To show that words are pronounced with emphasis or loudly.

Onomatopoeia - imitation of sounds, which are produced by people, animals and things.

Direct onomatopoeia:

Indirect onomatopoeia, which is combination of sounds making the sound reflection of the meaning.

So, this stylistic device has 2 types: 1) using one polysemantic word in several meanings simultaneously in one and the same context. For example: 2) the use or two words that together sound like another one word and both variants can be used in this context. For example: Zeugma – the use of one word in the same grammatical but different semantic relations: on one hand literal, and on other, transferred. Zeugma has a formula: Where A and B do not grammatically together. For example: She saw a film with child and great interest. One else example: Zeugma is the realization of two meaning with the help o…

Metaphor – figure of speech, means transference of some qualities from one object to another. The word “metaphor” from Greek means “to transfer”. Metaphor can be Trite metaphor They are sometimes fixed in dictionaries and they are often used in speech. F.E.: time is money Genuine metaphor They are unexpected F.E.: She is lonely beautiful flower. And metaphor can be different by structure: Simple, Prolonged and Mixed. Metaphor creates by formula: A is B. He is mountain. She is a star. Personification – it is also metaphor, but the they have differences. It means that lifeless objects get different qualities of live being. I made my own examples: S…
