Metaphor and Personification
At the lecture we discussed Metaphor, Simile. Metonymy and Personification. I want to say about Metaphor and Personification, and show examples.
Metaphor – figure of speech, means transference of some qualities from one object to another.
The word “metaphor” from Greek means “to transfer”.
Metaphor can be
Trite metaphor
They are sometimes fixed in dictionaries and they are often used in speech.
F.E.: time is money

Genuine metaphor
They are unexpected
F.E.: She is lonely beautiful flower.

And metaphor can be different by structure: Simple, Prolonged and Mixed.
Metaphor creates by formula: A is B. He is mountain. She is a star.
Personification – it is also metaphor, but the they have differences. It means that lifeless objects get different qualities of live being.
I made my own examples:

Steam does not have legs, but he GOES from the cup.

The building dos not have eyebrow but it can look gloomy.

Heart does not have a mouth but when we say "Heart is singing" it means that we are happy.
With help of stylistic devices we can make our speech more picturesque and they help us to express our thoughts more vivid.
