Facebook announced last night that it has paid $2 billion (1.2bn) for Oculus VR, a virtual reality technology company that is revolutionising the way people experience video games. The company was founded by 21 year old Palmer Luckey who, as a head mounted display (HMD) designer at the University of Southern California Institute for Creative Technologies, earned a reputation for having the largest personal collection of HMDs in the world. Luckey was also a longtime moderator of Meant to be Seen (MTBS), an online community of immersive technology gamers and professionals.
