Malapropism

Definition

play on words, either on different senses of the same word or on the similar sense or sound of different words. Also known as paronomasia.

The use of a word to modify or govern two or more words in such a manner that it applies to each in a different sense or appropriate to only one.

Irony is a figure of speech in which an expression means something the opposite of or very contrary to its literal meaning.

Absurd or humorous misuse of a word, especially by confusion with one of similar sound.
