OTG Cable in Nexus 7

I bought an OTG cable for my Nexus 7, but came to find after doing some research that it does not support OTG. Hopefully someone out there knows a trick or two to make this work.

A OTG cable and a wired Xbox360 control... How can I connect it to the nexus 7? I tried simply connecting the controller to the tablet with the cable, but nothing happens. It does not work for me either. It's an issue with 4.2.2. Don't worry, it should be fixed in 4.3.

It is not an issue with 4.2.2 . I just used my OTG this weekend just fine on my Nexus 10 to watch several movies. I just plugged my N7 in to try it out on there but I'm sure it will be fine the tablet cables links.
First, it is much easier if you are rooted and if you aren't, it takes all of 15 minutes to do.
Secondly, you need an app that will mount the USB as you won't see it unless its mounted.

Thirdly, if you are tying to use a drive other than a flash drive, results are hit or miss most likely because the drive isn't getting the juice it needs to run. a difference in hardware models that I noticed in your comment. Nexus 10 and the Nexus 7 are two models on very different specification ends.

I've had this working previous to the update. It's funny how people consider it to be an occurrence other than the OS. I know plenty of people who this does not work for. I don't even think we were going talking about mountable flash drives
We are talking about controllers corresponding to games. Not apps such as Nexus USB Mount, which is a hefty $1.99 last time I checked. Try doing a YouTube search for it...I'm pretty sure I remember seeing some videos on it when I was researching otg capabilities on my N7. It should also be noted that not all otg cables work. I tried three different ones before I found one that works with my hard drive

My flash drive just mounted up perfectly with my N7 with no issues my N7 is stock unrooted 4.2.2. As I said before, using OTG is not a software bug on 4.2.2.

Regarding your Xbox controller, assuming you have a good cable, is a driver issue or lack there of. Your N7 needs to know how to communicate with the controller. you don't have to be rooted in order to use certain otg scenarios. I'm not certain about connecting the Xbox controller though. But the app Nexus Media Importer and a GOOD otg cable will let you connect a flash drive and certain external hard drives to your N7

I used the otg cable before with a flash drive without a problem. I'm using Paranoid Android (4.2.2)... Maybe its a problem with a driver in the tablet

That attitude is part of the problem we have so many issues getting certain types of apps, games in particular, over to Android. I know I've spent easy $10 on lunch while at work, until I started bagging it. Suddenly $9.98 for a decent app doesn't seem like so much I use for x360 controller... USB music and USB video. No worry. Is very easy... Whatever, call me in hangout and I'll help u... Cheers

my OTG cable. I tried with a friend's nexus 4 (4.2.2, stock, unrooted) and can't connect the Xbox controller either, but it can read a flash drive The functionality should have been built into Android from the get go,  but it is what it is.
