A GROWING engineering company, whose specialist machinery helps a North-East carmaker continue rolling vehicles off its production line, is expanding after doubling its turnover to more than ￡1.2m.

Springfield (NE) Limited, based in Chilton, near Spennymoor, County Durham, has moved into a new 10,000sq ft base opposite its Chilton Industrial Estate headquarters.

The company, which was founded in 2005 and employs 15 people, has now extended its computer network with support from Clive Owen Technology Services, which has installed new wifi links and enabled the firm to move its computer-aided design (CAD) work into a larger space.

Mrs Milsom said she was proud of the company's achievements and its continuing growth.

She said: “Everything is done under one roof here and we love what we do.
