You can do whatever you like in your blog - compare and contrast, analyse sentences, download a text and analyse metaphors in it, express your own opinion, etc. Good post will promote further discussion on the topic. You are free to search the Internet for ideas, but be aware of plagiarism!!! Never forget to cite and post links to the useful sites you have used!!!
