Vanessa Hudgens turns heads in a plunging white dress and cream cardigan

In between regularly entertaining a full house through her starring role in Broadway's Gigi: The Musical, Vanessa Hudgens has been making the most of New York City's vast shopping options.

On Tuesday, the 26-year-old actress cut a glamorous figure as she stepped out in a plunging white patterned dress under a cream cardigan and grey pashmina for a trip to Victoria's Secret.

The screen beauty strode through the bustling Midtown Manhattan streets in a pair of open-toe silver platform shoes as she carried one of the famed lingerie brand's distinctive striped pink bags.

With her raven locks resting on her shoulders in a sleek bob, the High School Musical star accessorised with bracelets, a pair of chandelier earrings and tortoiseshell sunglasses.

Smiling at onlookers as she stepped out of the store, she was picked up in a chauffeur-driven vehicle and whisked off to the Neil Simon Theatre ahead of her curtain call.

After her performance, she took to her Twitter account to congratulate her co-stars on their recently announced Tony Award nominations.

I want to be a part of it... Vanessa Hudgens was spotted out and about in New York City on Tuesday

She wrote: 'So proud of my @GigiOnBroadway family! Victoria Clark nominated for a Tony and... Catherine Zuber nominated for the Drama Desk Awards! GO TEAM GIGI.'

In the production, Vanessa plays Gigi, a courtesan-in-training, alongside co-stars Victoria Clark as her grandmother Mamita and Corey Cott as Gaston Lachaille - her love interest.

Talking to the New York Times last month, the actress said of her return to theatre: 'Doing this has really changed my perspective and my work ethic. It just feels like there's a massive shift happening.

Once again finding myself on the stage, as I did when I was a little girl, makes me go: "Oh my God, this is what I want. This is what I want to keep doing."'

In an interview on US chat show The View, the actress revealed she had aspired to appear on Broadway since she was a teenager.

'I actually wrote a list when I was about 16 years old of things that I had to do and being on Broadway was the first thing. And I always said if I did Broadway I would want my first time to be in something where I can kind of originate the role.

'And we've re-worked Gigi in a way that makes it more accessible for modern audiences, so in a way it's kind of my own original version of Gigi.'
