The Law on Environmentally Friendly Products will Be Adopted in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan may introduce government support for organic producers, as it was reported on the sidelines of a round table entitled “Supporting the development of organic agriculture in Kazakhstan” by the head of Economic Integration of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic Zeinulla Sharipov. He also noted that it was planned to develop in this area a set of national standards. “The adoption of the Law “On organic production” will provide an opportunity to create a basis for the revision of the existing measures of state support,” – Z.Sharipov said.

“Currently, support for organic producers is provided in the framework of the current legislation on common measures aimed at support of the agro-industrial complex” – he said.

Z.Sharipov thus noted that the next stage of implementation of the law would be the adoption of national standards of the republic for organic products.

“We intend to study the international experience in order to facilitate the further procedure for recognition our products in the international market. This process will take at least one to two years. The law will give us the opportunity to carry out the state control and perform statistics on production. In addition, we will also keep a record of the volume of the market and the placing on the market. In other words, it is planned to create a basis for the specific measures taken for the development of organic agriculture in our country” – the head of profile agency stated.

He also pointed out that Kazakhstan last year as a whole exported to other countries organic products worth about $ 5 million.

Currently organic products produced in Kazakhstan mainly include oil crops and cereals. As for finished products, they include a variety of whole grains, wine and organic vodka.
