Socio-economic development of Kazakhstan discussed in Cabinet meeting

Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov has held a Government meeting on the issues of social and economic development of the country.
In particular, the meeting discussed the establishment and operation of Almaty regional financial center in accordance with the instructions of the President of Kazakhstan. Chairman of the National Bank K.Kelimbetov told about main approaches of the draft concept on the development of the financial center of the Eurasian Economic Union and new Silk Road.
In addition, the Government considered and approved the draft comprehensive plan on improvement of consumer protection for 2014-2015, which was presented by Chairman of Consumer Protection Agency B.Kuandykov.
Regional Development Minister B.Zhamishev informed of the measures to improve land legislation. Agriculture Minister A.Mamytbekov reported on the measures taken to ensure veterinary safety.
Minister of Environment and Water Resources N.Kapparov told about the priority plans within the implementation of the state program on water resources management. These are water saving, increasing water reserves, public water supply, wastewater disposal, ecosystem conservation. In particular, it is planned to reduce water consumption by GDP level by 14%, take water conservation measures, repair and modernize water supply networks, open 29 water storage facilities.
“First of all, it is planned to carry out works on cleaning and rehabilitation of lakes in protected natural areas, continue work on cleaning of riverbeds,” Kapparov said.
During the meeting, Chairman of the Agency for Regulation of Natural Monopolies M.Ospanov reported on approaches to improve the tariff policy. According to him, the basis of the new tariff policy is the establishment of long-term control parameters.
“Starting from 2015 all natural monopolies will be transferred to work on long-term rates for a period of 5 years,” Ospanov said.
Another topic for discussion was the implementation of Employment Roadmap 2020. Minister of Labor and Social Protection T.Duissenova reported on the progress of its execution.
Following the meeting, the Prime Minister gave instructions to the relevant state agencies.
