Saduakas Shugyla "My university"

I would like to tell you about my first impression of my university and why I like to study at my university. When I was sixteen years old, I had no idea where I would go to school after graduation. But one day I accidentally found out that I would go to this university to participate in a competition. I'll tell you about it later. After this event, I dreamed of studying here. And I was looking for specialties and professions that I like. So, I decided to come here. It was the “Al-Farabi Kazakh National University”. When you tell someone that you study here, most people will be amazed, because KazNU is one of the best universities in Kazakhstan. It was built in 1934, and many students have been studying there ever since. You may even have studied there, or your grandmother, grandfather, mother, father, brothers, sisters, and other acquaintances have studied there.

I remember the moment when I first saw the "KazNU" with my own eyes. Because before that, I only saw the university from photos and from the speeches of my acquaintances. Three years ago, when I was in school, I participated in a competition for research projects. Many students from all schools of the Almaty region took part in the competition. They were competing against each other. Some were happy because they performed well in front of the jury, and some were crying, maybe they couldn't perform well or were anxious. I have dedicated a year to this project and have not wasted a single day of my time. I successfully defended my project and took third place among 500 school children. On the day of the award ceremony, the creators of the contest informed the winners that they must pass the test to the KazNU in order to pass the city competition. I waited a long time, didn't even sleep a wink, and I hurried to the university in the morning. I went to the university with my mentor. Sunny day, white fluffy snow everywhere. In front of the huge building, the "Palace of Students" and the library of my dreams sparkle in the sun. There are many books, everything you need for reading and students in the library. When I saw students, who are learning with all their spirit, I really wanted to study at KazNU. I took books, read, and dreamed that every time I would come to this place. Although I did not pass the competition, I do not regret that at least once I saw this wonderful city for students. I really wanted to enroll here and set a goal that I will enter this university in 2019. After many attempts, I turned the dream into reality and went to university. When I came to the KazNU, I was happy that I was no longer a schoolgirl who just came, but a real student to learn and gain knowledge. I believed in myself, that I will study at this university, and I did it.

“KazNU” is a university campus for students. It has everything you need for students. A beautiful hostel, a library for the development of your knowledge, a student center "Keremet" and others. Every time there are a lot of projects for students, I think it is a good way to improve their knowledge in practice in many areas of activity. Thanks to the people working at the university, KazNU is getting better and better every year. According to the results of a study by the international rating agency QS (UK), KazNU in 2018 entered the top 220 best universities in the world. Compared to last year, KazNU rose by 14 points, taking 172nd place among 700 universities from 78 countries. The University provides training in many faculties in many areas. The University has 16 faculties, 67 departments, 32 research institutes and centers, and a technopark. KazNU also has an international academic mobility program, which annually trains 2,000 students abroad. Within the framework of the "KazNU-Green Campus" project, the university creates an environmentally sustainable and comfortable "green" environment for the development of “green” technologies and environmental policy in higher education institutions. I'm really proud to be studying here. Now I am in my second year and I am studying in this quarantine in an online format. So, I miss my university. But I believe that one day I will go to university every day, just like in my first year.
