Order Nexus 7
I gave one to my 4yo girl last summer and it is her prize possession. She learned letters and numbers and strategies and goal-setting and getting from games. She plays subway surfer like a champ. Great battery life and has weathered much rough handling with no problem. Had to pop the case back together once, that's it.
If you already have an Nexus 4 than no. I have both and don't use the Nexus 7 the nexus 7 accessories except for development because the Nexus 4 is faster and has a nicer display. Go ahead, it's a pretty cool device. I've played with a couple of them, but I chose the Nexus 10 for me instead.
I currently own the Nexus One, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, and Nexus 4. I'm looking to buy my first Nexus Tablet to add to my collection and I've picked the Nexus 7 over the Nexus 10 but I'm not sure if I should get the 16GB, 32GB, or just wait..
I am all for the Nexus 7 and quite honestly wouldn't mind having the Nexus 10 too. However Google I/O is right around the corner and there is a very good chance that they could announce a new device to replace the current Nexus 7
timing! They announced the current Nexus 7 on June 25th of last year. The Nexus 10 wasn't announced until November. They couldn't replace the Nexus 10 so early.
because nexus 7 has been out for a year now and its outdated. That being said they will still support it if you decide to get it I don't see the real use for a 7" tablet. A 10" can at least replace a notebook, a 7" tablet just means essentially carrying a second, bigger phone with you that you can't use to make calls! If you're taking a tablet rather than just your phone, it may as well be a bigger screen!
actually the Nexus 7 is a really great device. Its a lot easier to carry around out and about, even while just lounging at home one handed. You can also make calls on the Nexus 7 using apps like Groove IP.
Laptops, Netebooks, and 10" tablets are great but face it in reality they're not as lightweight and portable as a 7" tablet but I do see where your coming from when you say it's not that much bigger than your phones and i substantially smaller than your laptop. Get the 7. It fits nicely in a large trouser front pocket and feels great in the hand, everyone who uses mine loves it. Unless you are particularly patient, in which case waiting for the 7.1 to be announced at I/O would be the smarter move.
I got the 32GB HSPA+ Nexus7, my wife and daugh have the 16GB Nexus 7. We all love our tablets and I am especially fond of the HSPA+ version when traveling in the car. Perfect device to take everywhere.
I personally never ask for anyone else's opinion on whether or not I should buy a device. I go to best buy or where ever they have devices on display to try and I try them and compare them with other such devices. Then I make my decision based on what I like. And that's how you should shop for devices that you will spend your hard earned money on.
its good. I got mine from work, but if i was to pay for one myself I would get the ipad mini. The nexus 7 tablet pc seems to crawl along even after rebooting and other stuff that I didnt have to do with the iPad and while I can appreciate the ability to customize the interface much more than iOS - it feels like the OS is not quite ready for primetime to me...so - if you got the cash - go iPad mini - that being said...people seem to really love it (just look at the comments above!!)
while I am the same way, most times I never even need to try the device to know that I want it. However it is sometimes just to ask what others think. It at least doesn't hurt. And like I said before, had , not asked he may not have known that there could very well be a new one announced in a couple of months.
I'm not disputing whether or not it's a good device, and it's certainly worth the money. My point is that if you're spending the money on something to sit next to your smartphone, why buy something so similar to just a smartphone with less features.
I have one and love it! I started out being one of those people who thought "what's the deal with tablets anyway, I don't even know what a person would do with one" people. I originally got interested when I was looking for an e- e-reader. I'm so glad I got it, I can do so much more on it than a plain e-reader. It comes with me to work everyday (to use during my breaks of course). Next step is buying a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, so I can use it to journal when I travel. Don't hesitate! That's a good price too :-)
I'm sorry I wasn't trying to say you were disputing that either. However there really aren't any features less that the Nexus 4 has that the Nexus 7 doesn't. Why have both so similar in size? It is nice to have the extra real estate to read, browse and watch You tube. I don't disagree and am not saying your wrong but there is definitely room for a 7in tablet. Why else would Apple create the mini? Very true. I myself don't take sides. My wife lives in the apple ecosystem and I have owned and still own some apple products. Its very clear that they make great products. I just prefer android due to the vast customization possibilities. I still use an iPod for music.
Which one do you have ? Loll I laugh at those with the original 8GB version but Have you or anyone else had any lack of space issues with the 16GB ? I have 4 phones and 1TB external hard drive so space isn't really ever a true concern of mine
You can always wait for some months for an updated version or price reduction. But honestly, development is so fast, that you think about 'waiting for some time' all the time. Once you have to decide to buy, unless you prefer waiting to actually owning a device.
I've just gotten a Nexus 7 android tablets as of Wednesday, granted that means the newness hasn't worn off yet but it's been my constant companion. I have a 2 year old phone that includes WiFi tethering which I use with the WiFi-only 32 GB and don't miss the 3g connection (or the heavier pricetag that comes with it).
My one complaint so far is in the software look and feel, the system as-is doesn't have as much customizability as I'm used to, pretty much I can change the font size and the wallpaper image and that's it That said, I don't anticipate regretting it anytime soon, no matter what shows up at I/O.
