NBA 2K Players Tournament Bracket Update: Quarterfinals Matchups Set For Second Round Games
This past Friday and Sunday, 16 NBA players were involved in a fierce competition on NBA 2K21 MT Coins video game consoles as they battled it out in an NBA 2K tournament. After the first round, these 3 players are just one and done.
Following Friday night's first-round tournament results, only one of those quarterfinals matchups was set. That one is going to include the No. 2 seed, Trae Young combating upset-minded No. 10 seed DeAndre Ayton. The Phoenix Suns celebrity already took out No. 7 Zach LaVine from the opener, but he'll take on a man who put up over 100 in his first 2K20 game of the tourney. With Sunday's 2K results, we know who will play in another three matchups. The Clippers' Montrezl Harrell is the No. 8 seed and he will take on the smallest seed of the tournament, No. 16 Derrick Jones Jr. of the Heat. Jones eliminated Kevin Durant at a huge upset in the first matchup of the tourney.
The Phoenix Suns' Devin Booker could be one to beat in this tournament. As the No. 5 seed, he seemed strong from the opener against Michael Porter Jr..
The final matchup of the quarterfinals will feature two guys capable of talking some trash, but also who proved they've got serious skills on 2K. Patrick Beverly ruined and demoralized his first-round opponent Hassan Whiteside. Andre Drummond took down DeMarcus Cousins at the final game of their first round, and did so by 52 points!
Matchups comprised Devin Booker vs. Michael Porter Jr., Rui Hachimura vs. Donovan Mitchell, and Andre Drummond vs. DeMarcus Cousins. When most games kept up the theme of a single player dominating and lots of trash talk, viewers eventually got to see a game go to the last buzzer. Here's a look at which players moved on to the quarterfinals.
Harrell used his Los Angeles Clippers while NBA All-Star Sabonis went together with his very own Indiana Pacers in their matchup. That made things interesting to watch as they made comments about their teammates throughout the game. "This game is rigged," Sabonis stated when Myles Turner was too slow to chase a participant on a fast break. From the fourth quarter, Harrell had expanded to a 60-37 guide as Sabonis was unable to find any success with his own shots. Harrell maintained the lead up as Sabonis eventually dropped, 73-51.
The second matchup of the night was easily the tournament's best so far. Hachimura went together with the Los Angeles Lakers and Mitchell went together with the Brooklyn Nets. Obviously, Mitchell had both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant to use almost, but that would not be the case in real life for the Nets. The two players had a competitive initial quarter, trading baskets, with Hachimura up 19-17 at the end. At the second Mitchell joked about Joe Harris guarding LeBron with"I love you Joe Harris, but I do not think that is the matchup I want," before shifting that defensive assignment up.
"I'm gonna start doin hack-a-Bron if that is the case," Mitchell commented afterwards on after LeBron missed at the line. It was 38-34 at the half of the Lakers shooting 70 percent. Hachimura requested Mitchell how frequently he plays and he admitted he plays mostly in NBA 2K20 Park mode. As things remained close, Mitchell maintained switching up his defensive matchups for Buy NBA 2K Coins LeBron and AD. He'd pull ahead by a point in the next, but Rui came right back. In the fourth, Mitchell was able to pull ahead slightly, moving up with over two minutes left. Things were tied about a minute to go but Rui found a way to score with LeBron.
