Multiple police officers shot and killed in Baton Rouge
Three police officers are confirmed dead and three others are wounded after a shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a sheriff's office spokesperson confirmed on Sunday.

The Advocate’s Rebekah Allen reports two Baton Rouge officers were killed, and local ABC afiliate WBRZ reports one East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office deputy is also dead. Three additional Baton Rouge officers are injured, one critically, according to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.

There have been protests in Baton Rouge along Airline Highway, where the shooting occurred, since the police shooting of Alton Sterling on July 5.
Sterling was shot and killed during an altercations with police responding to a disturbance call at a convenience story. Cell phone video shot of the incident aired by several news stations shows an officer using a stun gun on Sterling before both another helps him tackle Sterling to the ground.
One officer is then seen in the video pulling a gun from his holster and pointing it at Sterling’s chest before three gunshots are heard, followed by a woman screaming and a man asking, "they shot him?"
Several Philadelphia police officers took to social media Sunday morning to offer their condolences.
