Loscertales: “Energy of the Future” Forum to have significant impact on innovation development

It was the second event of the Pre-EXPO program of the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017.

General Secretary of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) Vicente Loscertales made a keynote report.

“Energy of the Future” will have a significant impact on education, innovation and cooperation in all energy issues”, the General Secretary of the BIE said.

Energy Minister of Kazakhstan Vladimir Shkolnik, opening the Forum in Paris, stressed that now is the right time to discuss world’s attitude towards energy.

“We recognize the important role that energy plays in the development process. However, carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels lead to climate change on the Earth. This endangers the safety of hundreds of millions of people around the world, undermining the foundations of the important local, national and global stability”, the Minister of Energy said.

According to V. Shkolnik, Kazakhstan has chosen “Energy of the Future” as the theme of the International specialized exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana to help to unite the efforts of the international community to solve global energy problems.

The Forum, which was held during the UN Climate Conference (COP21), brought together energy experts, politicians, heads of enterprises and multinational companies, large international organizations, as well as Nobel Prize winners and other eminent scientists and economists. They exchanged information “first hand” on the latest developments in the field of sustainable energy.

Conclusions and recommendations of the participants will be included in the program of the main forum “Energy of the Future”, which will be held in the framework of the international specialized exhibition in 2017, as well as flagship pavilion “Astana EXPO-2017″. The Forum will be a major feature of “Astana EXPO-2017″ and will last during the whole event. It will become a place of debates, conferences and symposiums, thematic weeks and seminars on the technology policy, innovation strategies, specific energy projects and best practices. The list of issues for discussion will include energy revolution, low-carbon technologies, renewable technology solutions, providing universal access to energy and energy efficiency in cities.

We remind that he first international forum “Energy of the future: reducing CO2 emissions” was held in October 2014 in Astana. It initiated the research projects on the theme “Energy of the Future” and its sub-themes: the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the introduction of energy saving technologies and ensuring universal access to sustainable energy. Over 500 leading energy experts, scientists and heads of non-governmental organizations, representatives of the public sector attended the event.
