Kazakhstan launched project on electronic wastes management

The project on electronic wastes management promoted by the UNDP launched in Kazakhstan.
Speaking at today’s media briefing in the CCS, Minister of Environment and Water Resources of Kazakhstan Nurlan Kapparov told about a joint project of the UN Development Program and Samsung Electronics company on electronic wastes management.
“The project on electronic wastes management promoted by the UNDP with the financial support of Samsung Electronics in Kazakhstan and Central Asia is an example of public-private partnership aimed at promotion of state priorities and fulfillment of the tasks set by the President,” the minister said.
According to N.Kapparov, the projects aims at improvement of the system of electronic wastes management, improvement of efficiency of the services on collection, transportation, utilization and disposal of this type of wastes.
“It is planned to install eco-boxes for collection of out-of-order cell phones in the points of sale of cell phones. Besides, it is planned to raise public awareness about the harm caused by electronic wastes and ways of its utilization,” the minister told.
