Kazakhstan and Finland are developing cooperation in field of “green” technologies

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerlan Idrisov held a meeting with Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of Finland Lenita Toivakka, who arrived in Astana to participate in the meeting of the Kazakh-Finnish Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation. During the talks, the sides discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Yerlan Idrisov emphasized the relevance of business cooperation between Kazakhstan and Finland in the field of “green” economy and the transfer of “clean” technologies. In particular, there were denoted the launch of the Kazakh-Finnish Business Hub in 2014, the opening of the plant for the production of paints and varnishes in Almaty region in April 2015, and the beginning of the co-production of combines and tractors of the Finnish technology in North-Kazakhstan region.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out that for the past three years Finland ranks the second place among Nordic countries in terms of investment in Kazakhstan’s economy. In addition, Yerlan Idrisov expressed the hope for a speedy confirmation of the Finnish party to participate in the international exhibition “EXPO-2017″.

The parties also discussed the results of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, as well as the interaction between Kazakhstan and the European Union.
