How to successfully take a journalism- internship in Kazmedia?
First, let’s talk about what is Kazmedia and why journalist will want to work here?
Kazmedia- is a center where 8 TV channels of the country and 3 radio stations are located in. There are Khabar, 24 KZ, KazakhTV, Kazakhstan, Balapan, KazSport, channel “Eurasia”, Mir, “Kazakh Radio”, Radio “Shalkar” and “Astana”. Kazmedia has become the biggest regional media hub, therefore plans here always made on a large scale.
Ever since my childhood, I always repeated after news broadcasters and announcers when I watched TV. Now, I am on the halfway to the fulfillment of this childhood dream.
As a student, who just began tasting the delights of journalism, work in Kazmedia was a goal for me, rather than a dream. The center attracted me with its modernity, opportunities, and location in our capital- Astana.
Even established journalists want to work here, so it’s not surprising that many beginners will dream about an internship. And if you are one of them, here are some tips on how you can get in and successfully complete internship in Kazmedia:
1. Look through the website!
There will always be vacancies on the website of the Kazmedia itself, or on the TV channels and radios which are located in it. There are separate tabs under the name "Work with us". There will be a list of vacancies or just an email address where you can send your cv, resume.
2. Improve your skills!
A journalist must be comprehensive and constantly strive for the best. You are good at writing? Make sure to write on different themes anytime and anywhere you want. The best way to learn is just by doing it.
3. Create good СV!
The employer always look out for CV. It’s the first step to make a right impression. You don’t need to write all your skills. Key abilities and your photo- are the must.
4. Work hard, then you will be noticed!
Make sure to constantly take notes on everything they show you, ask questions and come in every day on time and with a positive attitude. In the end, you will be probably asked to interview for a potential job.
5. Don’t take criticism too close to your heart!
Don’t stress over the things that you aren’t able to do. Because you are still learning and still have time to be better. Show potential and passion instead of tears. To have an internship in Kazmedia by yourself- is already something. Especially, if you aren’t from Astana.
I chose Khabar24, the only channel broadcasting news 24 hours 7 days a week and got in International Informations Department. My responsibilities included translating articles, stories, and interviews, video checking for errors, scoring of texts. The most outstanding person who spoke in my voice was Angela Merkel. So, if you are interested in news coverage, conduct live reports and if you want to be always aware of what is happening, then you must do an internship on Khabar24 like me!
And if you are not a journalist, but want to become one of them, you can take courses of Mediaschool “Kazmedia Ortalygy”. You will study directly from present journalists, media persons of Kazakhstan and of course at the end you will have an internship in one of the TV channels or radio located in media center.
