All about fair-trade.
What is fair trade?
Fair trade is -a movement whose goal is to help producers in developing countries to get a fair price for their products so as to reduce poverty, provide for the ethical treatment of workers and farmers, and promote environmentally sustainable practices. Also, it is a common business strategy to buy goods and resell them at a higher price.There are different types of fair trade clothing for children, men and women, including toddler’s rompers, women’s dresses, jeans and accessories. Designers often use organic cotton, hemp, bamboo or other sustainable materials when creating fair trade clothing.

Why fair trade is so important?
When you buy a product that was produced in a LEDC (Less Economically Developed Country) barely any of the money goes to the farmer. Fair trade makes it so most of the money goes to the producer, and not the sellers, this means that they can afford to support their families. It is probably a good idea to say: Fairtrade is not a magic pill. It does not solve the world’s problems, but it does set a standard that everyone involved must meet. This can give those buying Fairtrade clothing, the confidence in knowing that the people who grew the cotton were given a fair deal.

Why Fairtrade clothing is better?
As I’ve already said, Fairtrade clothing ensures that the people who have produced the cotton are treated fairly, paid a guaranteed amount and given more opportunities. Generally, because of the nature of the production processes for Fairtrade cotton, the clothing is of better quality.
Also, there are key benefits:
- Fairtrade is one of the most recognised ethical labels in the world;
- Fairtrade clothes are made from better quality cotton;
- Fairtrade clothes feel better against your skin;
- Fairtrade workwear and event clothing helps improve your brand’s ethical credentials.
