A Unified System of Environmental Monitoring will Appear in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan will create a unified system of natural resources and environment monitoring. The news was reported to journalists in the press service of the Prosecutor General of the Republic, on Tuesday, November 3 by quoting the words of the Deputy Attorney General of the country and the chairman of the interdepartmental commission on environmental safety in the Security Council of Kazakhstan Johann Merkel. “Taking into account the urgency and importance of the issues related to environmental safety, we now propose to discuss what urgent measures we need to take for the implementation of a unified state system of natural resources and environment monitoring” – so it was said in the press-service.

“This system should provide complete regular monitoring of the environment, including its phenomena and processes, including obtaining information on the sources of human impact, as well as the impact of environmental factors on human health” – Johann Merkel explained.

He also added that the monitoring should be carried out on the basis of complete and reliable information starting from the stage of the formation of pollutants and harmful substances down to their influence on the human body.

“According to a recent analysis, many problematic issues that require the use of compulsory integrated approach have not been solved to this day in our country. For example, this is the situation with the operation of eight military test sites, the total area of which is more than 8 million hectares. We should pay particular attention to land degradation, disposal of industrial and municipal solid waste, exploration and subsequent mining operations, environmental emissions, etc.” – I.Merkel said.
