A car for Kazakh woman.
I am thinking of how different the life of the @KazakhTexas family will be here in America. The first difference in their life will be their freedom. The freedom will come about in a car. Our transportation system of buses and taxis is absolutely horrible and expensive. We are a transportation society and love our cars. I have been driving a car since I was 15 and I have owned a car since I was 16. I worked after school at various jobs get a Pontiac then at 17 I bought a brand new Mustang GT. I have always loved driving cars, racing cars, fixing cars, and selling cars.
As a car guy, I need to make sure the Kazakh Texas kids have appropriate and safe transport to school and to activities. American school life varies a bit from what I experienced with the kids in KZ. Many of our kids are involved in clubs and sports outside and away from school. This often means transporting equipment, uniforms, various sports balls, and other kids. Moms and dads take turns picking up and dropping off groups of kids. This simply can't be done by riding a bus. So, Mrs. Kazakh Texas knows she is going to get a car. Little Ms. Kazakh Texas and I have been doing some car shopping. Little Miss said she wants to get something large so her friends will fit and she has been helping me work the auctions. We came to a conclusion, we decided we need a large sport utility vehicle and mom is just simply going to have to learn to drive it!
Now, I am from Texas and things are bigger in Texas. Our roads are bigger, longer, and have more distance. I live on a ranch in North Texas and drive into Dallas every day. My commute is 1.5 hours each direction. The average commute is 45 minutes to 1 hour for most people. We live in our cars and it is important to have comfort when you need to take kids to school in the morning, go to work, pick up a client for lunch, get groceries, take the kids to sports practice, move boxes, or whatever tasks you have for the day.
Little Miss KZ TX is excited that she will have a group of friends and they can all ride in the same car. Mom feels like she is going to be a bus driver. Most moms around here drive what is known as an "SUV" or sport utility vehicle. They are a large enclosed vehicle built on a truck chassis with a V8 motor, 3 rows of seating (most seat 7-9 people), and have the capability to go off road or pull a boat. Most of the SUV's are superbly equipped with leather interior, separate rear climate controls, and many even have a TV/DVD system built in for kids to be entertained. A new SUV can easily cost upwards of $40-$50,000 and one 10 years old can still cost $10,000 or more.
Fortunately, I own a small used car lot in Dallas and I buy cars at auction. As a small independent dealer, I buy some of the older trucks and SUV type vehicles to resell to my customers. Many of these cars have imperfections and defects, so big name brand dealers do not want them. These cars are often traded in when people become tired of them and end up at auction. Sometimes the repairs can be as minor as fixed a lose wire or as a major as a new engine. My goal is find Mrs. Kazakh Texas the perfect kid hauler and this week I came very close! I want to hear your opinions! It is a 2005 GMC Denali xL (extra large, seriously), it has a 6.0L V8, all wheel drive, 20 inch wheels, rear TV, and a sunroof. I know some of you will say such a large vehicle is a waste and you are right, but forgive us...we are capitalists!
Ladies, I want to hear your thoughts. Would you drive this urban beast? Do you believe this is considered a woman's car?
