People who inspire me

The purpose of my blog is to share with you different stories from my life. They may include short stories about people that I have met or summaries of some lectures, meetings, all interesting moments, in a nutshell:)

Even though my English is not brilliant, I would like to write it this language. Therefore, please do not pay much attention to grammar) So, this is the first of my  blog series about "People who inspire me".

During the spring break, I went back to my hometown. As usual, break was boring; I just stayed at home and watched anime whole day. But,one day my friend invited me to the speaking club that usually held in library. So, I gladly accepted his suggestion. At the beginning, there was an introductory section where everyone introduce themselves and tell about their hobbies or interests. Most of the comers were students of school or universities and were the ordinary English learners. But, one man really catched my attention. So, I am going to tell you about his introduction which I became my "story".

Among students and just young people, he was one of the adults coming to this speaking club. I did not really remember his name which I regret. He was nearly 33-38 years old. From the first words, I really appreciated his English. Actually, during the school time, he had never had a chance to learn English. He only started studying it 10 years ago without any teacher or mentor, merely by himself. To be honest, while being a student of the English taught university I felt uncomfortable. Because his English was much more better than mine. Even, he used interesting phrases and collocations which really show his deep interest in learning English. There was a question for him: Does he use English at work or wants to use his English to further career developments? He responded that actually English is not related to his work and that he learns it just for himself. Some members of club suggested him to apply for foreign internship or to travel abroad. He honestly answered that he has a family and that he could not left them. Again reminded that learning English is just for his pleasure.

By sharing with you this story I want to raise a problem that is vital in our society. It is never late to start learning. The graduation from university or school does not really means that your education is stopped. Education lasts for your whole life. This man is an vivid example of what I am trying to address for you.

It also important for me. Because while having all opportunities to study English, I am not accomplishing it properly. I was grateful for meeting such person. He inspires me...

STAY HUNGRY, STAY FOOLISH.

Thanks,

Dastan Orazbaiuly
