It was absolutely freezing last weekend here! After such chilly January with little snow, we did not expect it. It had begun at night, when the temperature went down from -20 to -43 degrees below zero. Weather forecasters said the weather would stay like this for a week or two. People who parked their cars outside instead of the garages, couldn't start up their engines in the morning. So they had to use a public transport, which was overcrowded these days.
It was impossible to stay outside even for five minutes. There was a risk of getting a frostbite. That's why all classes at schools and universities were cancelled. Some students thank the weather for such an unplanned vacation.
Driving was dangerous as there was a possibility of a blizzard in the evening. As we couldn't start up our car in the morning, we bought tickets for a bus to reach a neighbour town and visit our reatives. But after half an hour the radiator of the bus was frozen, because the driver didn't use the antifreeze. So we had to wait for another bus, which drove us back to our town.
Today we were able to start up our car at last. So hopefully we will drive away in the afternoon.
