Kazakhstan has its own Romeo and Juliet named Kozi Korpesh and Bayan Sulu. “Kozi Korpesh and Bayan Sulu” is a Kazakh lyric-epic poem of the 13th – 14th century. It is an old national legend about tragedy and love. Kozi and Bayan love each other but Bayan’s family wants her to get married with Kodar. Therefore Kozi dies because of Kodar. Bayan decides to avenge him and agrees to fake marry Kodar with the only condition of building her a well with spring water. Kodar agrees on that and the plan worked out.
