Nexus 7 won't charge

My Nexus 7 won't charge above 10% for some reason. One day I left it to charge but the battery just drained completely anyway. Then it wouldn't turn on for two days. When it did turn on, after almost half an hour of a blank screen, it only had 7% and wouldn't charge any further, no matter what charger I connected it to. So I just turned it off, but then nothing happened, and now I can't turn it on. Anybody knows how to fix this?  I bought mine from NextBuying . Should I go to them or Asus?  Today, after not having charged my Nexus 7 for a day, I simply decided to try one more time, and all of a sudden it started charging! After 5 hours it's only charged 40% but it's an improvement. I want to backup my data and apps just in case, but how do I do that? N7 has stopped charging again, and when I try to connect it to my PC it won't charge or allow mass storage mode, so I can't back it up before it loses all it's charge.

If you can get to a boot animation you should be able to use factory reset from the bootloader (press and hold power and volume down.. May probably for a volume up.. Press)

Maybe you're unlucky and got a lemon -- My NeXus 7 has been rock solid. If you got it from Google Play, I've heard of others contacting them and getting a return and replacement worked out.  have some paperwork with it. I'd check that out. Usually that will tell you what to do with a warranty claim. Failing that talk to Staples, see what they say unless you have a recovery installed.

As for backup I tend to just use a file transfer for photos, and let everything else be deleted.. Good chance for a clean up. (you n7 will thank you) but you might have some luck with folder data/android. FYI Nexus 4 stock recovery allows factory reset.. I had assumed it was the same for n7.
