Film review

Просто мой фильм ревью по социологии. Решил поделиться, может кому понравится =)

Тема: "Стадо или Исследование проблемы непонимания в менее интеллектуальном обществе"

Извиняюсь, что на английском, лень переводить. Может быть попозже.

I spent high amount of time for choosing the topic of my film review. So, I decided to be more original and I have chosen the next movie for my review: “A kid which could count”. I hope you have seen it, but anyway you can find it here: http://kiwi.kz/watch/4hcwmf7o84b7/

This is cartoon recorded by Soyuzmultfilm in 1968 year, directed by Vladimir Degtyarev. It’s duration is 9 minutes and 32 seconds but that is enough for exposing such problem as “Herd” or “Problem of misunderstanding in low-intelligent community”.

The storyline of this cartoon begins when a kid who can count up to 10 meet a calf. He decides to show his talent and count them both but he doesn’t consider calf’s low intelligence. As result, calf understands his inability for such simple mathematics and, as ordinary exponent of low intelligence community, aggresses because people are afraid of unknown.

This cartoon represents full system of social herd. Calf, as the most “injured” by counting takes a role of instigator. Every time when they meet new man and this man should choose between side of “injured” and side of “counter”, a calf immediately helps to make this decision – he pressurizes on his own consciousness, he says “He counted you too!” and this man, subconsciously accepts their offences on himself, and aggresses. As result we see an “Snowball effect”. People become to believe them faster and faster because their number is more than one kid. And, as result, we see isolated from the society kid who is just cleverer than others but they couldn’t understand it. Authors also have shown a solution of this problem. In critical situations people become use all methods of salvation, even not known for them, so it’s enough to model and contrive such situation in which only your methods will help. After that it will be very difficult to change their opinion about correctness of your method, because this method once saved their life. This cartoon has a happy end because it is cartoon for children but in case of real society it can result in single sociopath who begins to think that he doesn’t deserve this society even in situations when it’s other way round and he can commit suicide or it could kill a talent in this man; if he is mentally and morally strong person it can think that others are much worse than it is real or, for example, that they don’t deserve their life. Such person become killers or maniacs.

As conclusion, I want to say that the Soviet culture, even Soviet cartoons exposes big sociological, political, psychological and other problems, but it couldn’t be seen from the first sight; but it’s important not to overdo, because it could result in mental disorder called “Syndrome of permanent searching of deeper meaning” which is very difficult for treatment. I would like to say this to my generation:

Watch Soviet cartoons and learn math, don’t be a calf!
